NEWCOMERS TO NEIGHBORS MEDIA NARRATIVE PROJECT

The Media Narrative Project is a capstone class for Journalism students at Biola University. Over the course of a semester, we created a book about Middle Eastern migrants and refugees in the Southern California area. I was a photographer and designer for this project. As a photographer, I worked on a chapter abut Agencies and Ministries that serve refugee families. My photography can be seen in chapters 1 and 7. In addition to this, I was part of a team of four who designed this book. Through this I worked within Photoshop and In Design, honing skills in both programs. In addition to this, we designed a website to promote the book and showcase the students that contributed to it. I personally  worked with the About page of the website, implementing plugin's through WordPress to create a photo grid, adjusting sizing of the grid and resizing images to fit the grid. I then arranged the page and added each students photo and name. Through this project I was able to grow as a photographer and designer, and learn how to be intentional and sensitive with cross-cultural experiences.
